In the week preceding Labor Day, 2020, Specks Run, a tributary of Opequon Creek, was literally filled, bank-to-bank, with construction drilling mud transported from a Dominion Energy project in Virginia. Investigations of the subcontractors and circumstances are underway while mitigation efforts have commenced expeditiously under the supervision of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
In an initial site visit, Bill Howard of the Downstream Project conducts a video inspection of the dump site with Steve Bauserman and Herb Peddicord.
