Wetland Rarities: A Walk at the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve

July 12 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Do you have a special passion for unusual plants?

Seek out some of the 20 plant species found in the Abrams Creek Wetlands in Winchester City and Frederick County that appear on Virginia’s Rare Plants List. Our ¾-mile walk will take us on a sunny and paved path, along railroad tracks, and through areas that are muddy, brushy, or both. This trip is organized by TOW and cosponsored with the Virginia Native Plant Society.

Leader: Woodward (Woody) Bousquet, Professor Emeritus, Environmental Studies and Biology, Shenandoah University.

Free and open to the public.

Space is limited, and registration is required. To register, please email your name, the names of guests (if any), and snail-mail address to the trip leader at: wbousquet@comcast.net. You will receive a confirmation and any updates, including cancellation information.

Dress for summer weather. Bring water. Protect yourself from ticks and biting insects as needed. Long pants and a sun hat are strongly recommended.

Meet at entrance kiosk at the junction of Handley Ave. and Meadow Branch Ave., Winchester VA. Park alongside the bike paths on either side of Meadow Branch Ave.
