Spots Still Open for “September Wildflowers and More” with Dr. Woody Bousquet

“Spots are still open for our upcoming Wildflower Walk—reserve yours today!”
Discover some of this site’s marsh wildflowers and typical late summer birds. Get your questions answered about this special place — Winchester’s first formally protected nature preserve. Our mile-long walk will be on a level and paved sunny path, on a boardwalk, and on a short soggy stretch of unpaved trail. Dress for sunny or rainy weather as appropriate. Bring water. Protect yourself from ticks and biting insects as needed.
Meet at the “Children of America” parking lot, Abrams Crossing commercial center, 631 West Jubal Early Drive, Winchester Virginia
Leader: Woodward (Woody) Bousquet, retired environmental studies and biology professor, Shenandoah University.
Free, open to the public, and everyone is welcome!

More than 300 plant species and more than 200 bird species have been documented here. The Preserve was dedicated in 2003, and TOW was one of the key organizations involved in its initial protection.
More information about the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve appears on the City of Winchester’s website.
For a full list of the plants of the entire Abrams Creek Wetlands property – both the Frederick County side and the Winchester City side – click on the “Resources” tab here on the TOW website.
